WeCare4U
Room for building intercultural skills in Austria and Germany
New country, new culture: intercultural differences are often a difficult challenge for healthcare professionals from abroad who are urgently needed in Austria and Germany. They can only develop their full professional potential if they find their place in the new environment. As part of the European WeCare4U project, a target group-specific intercultural skills training course is being developed based on qualitative interviews with nurses from Tunisia and Colombia as well as recruiting experts. The training helps health workers with diverse backgrounds not only to adapt well to their new workplaces but also to communicate effectively with their new clients and patients – so that misunderstandings can be avoided and diversity can become a benefit.
