SOTERIA
Room for secure, centralized management of personal data
Applications allowing users to digitally identify themselves on the internet are becoming increasingly common. However, these applications are not always easy to use and/or risk-free in terms of data security. This issue is being addressed by the SOTERIA project, which combines an online identification tool with a data storage solution. The goal is to develop an online platform that allows users across the EU to access digital services by easily and securely proving their identity online and storing their documents/personal data on a device. The technology is being tested in pilot projects in the three application areas of e-health, e-voting, and e-exams. As an educational institution with many years of expertise in course offerings – including exams – we are testing the technology in the field of e-exams. Our focus is on providing secure, digital examination and learning environments. So that people can learn and grow safely with digitalization.
About SOTERIA: All Information about the project
Project contents
During the project period from October 2021 to September 2024, we are developing and collaborating with twelve project partners from eight different countries on:
- A new digital platform as an identification tool (digital identity), taking into account feedback from citizens through surveys and focus groups.
- A decentralized data storage tool.
- Conducting pilot tests in the three application areas of e-exams, e-health, and e-voting.
- Performing business and market analyses.
Target audience
The SOTERIA project is aimed at the general population in the EU aged 18 and above.
Project goals
The goal of the SOTERIA project is to develop a new digital platform for citizens that combines an online identification tool with data storage, adhering to the highest security standards. This platform aims to allow users—regardless of location, time, gender, age, or IT skills—to securely prove their identity online across the EU using just one app and to store documents/personal data on a device, thereby enabling the use of digital services throughout the EU. Additionally, the project aims to raise awareness about potential data privacy risks.
